2005
90/100 points from Robert Parker Jnr (Wine Advocate, Oct. 2006)silver medal: Royal National Wine Show Canberra 2006
2003
90/100 points from James Halliday in his Australian Wine Companion 2006; 5/5 stars from Huon Hooke and Ralph Kyte-Powell in the Sydney Morning Herald Epicure Magazine (September 2004) and 4.5/5 stars from the same critics in the Penguin Good Australian Wine Guide 2004-2005;bronze medal: Royal Adelaide Wine Show 2004, Royal Melbourne Wine Show 2004
Tasting notes from Heggies: "Mid-straw in colour with green tints. The nose offers full intensity with rich aromas of stone fruits, cashew and fine oak nuances. The palate is round, full and very complex showing peach and nectarine fruit notes with a yoghurt creaminess and a smooth, lingering finish".
2002
Once again, a big, ripe wine (14.5% alc.), from (yet) another excellent vintage for white wines in the Eden Valley. 90/100 points from Robert Parker in the September 2003 edition of his Wine Advocate; 88/100 points from Australian wine writer, Jeremy Oliver, reviewing the wine in his "On Wine" (July/August 2003); highly commended (placed in top 12% of exhibited wines) at the Sydney International Wine Competition 2004; 88/100 points from James Halliday in his Australian Wine Companion 2005;bronze medal: Royal Adelaide Wine Show 2003.
Tasting notes from Heggies: "The grapes were hand-picked and gently pressed through an air-bag tank press, enabling minimal extraction of skin phenolics and allowing preservation of the natural fruit aroma. High solids fermentation in French oak using indigenous yeast strains and extended contact on lees has increased the palate texture and mouthfeel. Mid-straw in colour with green tints; full and intense, offering complex aromas of stone fruit and cashew, with hints of fine oak. The palate is rich and deep, showing cashew and fig, intertwined with nectarine. Native yeasts and barrel stirring have given this wine a full-bodied, creamy texture with excellent length".
2001
Definitely a wine worth hunting for. 93/100 from James Halliday;gold medal: (and trophy winner) Royal Melbourne Wine Show 2001, Royal Hobart Wine Show 2002
silver medal: Royal Sydney Wine Show 2003. A big, ripe wine (14.5% alc.) that, as a result of careful, artisanal winemaking and handling (the fruit is hand-picked and gently airbag pressed), is not at all heavy or clumsy.
"Deep straw in colour with a distinct lime tinge; shows lifted aromas of cashews and figs with subtle, smokey oak tones. The palate is complex with fig, nectarine and citrus flavours. Intense texture, with a creamy, nutty sensation accentuating the lingering finish, while a tight, mineral acidity intensifies the fruit flavour". The 2000 vintage of this wine was placed in the top 20 in the Divine Magazine (Australia) "State of Origin" chardonnay tasting in April, 2003.Winemaker’s tasting notes:
