Ratings, Reviews and Tasting Notes
Situated in the Perth Hills, Cosham Wines is a small family-owned and operated vineyard, comprising two hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay and Petit Verdot. The first vines were planted in 1990, with a second planting in 1995, and production now stands at approximately 20 tonnes. The wines are contract-made by Julie White at Jane Brook Estate Wines (Swan Valley). The vines are hand-pruned, with additional summer pruning to maximise berry development. The grapes for this chardonnay were hand-picked. Given the very good vintage in the Perth Hills region, it could well be worth keeping your eyes open for the 2003 edition of this wine.
2004
89/100 points from James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion 2007)2001
87/100 points from James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion 2005)2000
a very impressive 94/100 points from James Halliday in his Australian Wine Companion 2004 (although the tasting date was October, 2002). Halliday felt the wine was at its peak then, but should - or could - hold for a few years. Also a gold medal winner at the 2002 Qantas Wine Show of Western Australia."The nose shows a combination of tropical fruits and complementary oak. The chardonnay fruit comes through on the palate and is balanced by oak and acid".Winemaker’s tasting notes:
